A student faked his own kidnapping after failing his exams.

Aftab Aslam didn’t pass his English class after two attempts so decided it would be a good idea to text his parents from a new phone claiming to be a kidnapper who threatened to kill him if the police were contacted.

The 19-year-old student – who was hoping to get sympathy from his mother and father – is said to have lived in a tent in a field for eight days as he played out the stunt before returning home when the weather turned cold and wet, the Daily Mail newspaper reports.

He initially told his parents he had been drugged and kidnapped before eventually confessing while being cross-examined.

FBI investigators were all set to launch an “intensive investigation” into his disappearance.

He has been charged with three felony counts, each of false statements, tampering with evidence and terroristic threats.
