Goodluck Jonathan had visited Kenya to take part in the just concluded Independence Day celebration.

Amina was caught on tape saying “Your president visited our country with seven private jets and that has never happened before. We were all excited.”

“This is Nigeria. It’s a country with the largest private jets. Seven private jets only. I know there must be more, but for us, that was wow. Everybody came in their own jets” she smirked.

If the President of Nigeria is invited to Kenya and he decided to invite business giants like Dangote, Adenuga, Capt Hosa Okunbor, Oristejiafor, does she expect them to go and jump a ride in the president’s plane when they have their personal private jets? This smack on envy from Kenya and Nigeria government should ask her to render apology and for the government of Kenya to sack her. These celebrations have more to do with networking of business people that just to drink Moet. People who would like to build refineries in Kenya will get introduced to the president of the host country. The American and all other countries do it all the time. When President Carter visited OBJ in the 70’s, the Americans came in with 37 airplanes. They even brought Carter Presidential convoy to Lagos. That included his Presidential car and the back up. That is how big countries operate and Nigeria is a great country.

With the likes of people like you with this backward way of thinking, no wonder this country has remained backward.
Obama went to Mandela’s burial with former presidents Bush, Clinton, and their wives in his AirForce 1, and 9ja’s budget isn’t even up to that of California.
Mr man, you’ve got something between your ears, it’s called a brain, please get it into gear before you start typing.

Thank you Sam. This is the kind of illiteratecy we have in Nigeria. What Amina Mohammed is talking about is value and ethical thinking in a society where over80% of the population live in poverty. One or two aircraft were adequate. British Prime Minister in such a trip usually hire British Airways aircraft to carry all the delegates in order to have discussion and how to handle the outing because they were not going for the celebration only but to conduct business, Nigerians with exception of a few went their to enjoy themselves as usual. In fact in Britain there is no Presidential jet either for the Queen or the Prime Minister. I believe the Nigerian, against Boko Boko had never heard of Proteten Ethic in life. You may wonder how a Moslem came know about Protesten Ethic and talking about it while other Nigerians are blind about? They are Cathelic.

Brilliantly put. Many people allow tribalism and Ethnocentricity to becloud their reasoning.

I remember me having 77 private jets in those days – they were spokes of my old bicycle that flew out one by one on my way home from my father’s farm. Those were good old days when people had values. Greed has taken over, even fishermen fly like witches these days.

And you know what Jonathan is adding an additional jet to his already bloated presidential fleet of 11 aircrafts according to 2014 annual budget …wasteful

Abati is frankly speaking a disappointment. He shamelessly asked the Kenyan Minister to prove what she said. There is no need for the woman to prove anything. Our journalists should have done that by finding out how many planes landed from Nigeria around the same time with the president.
Abati has really changed. This was the sort of things he was writing against before he betrayed his conscience by accepting the job of a town crier or bull dog at Aso Rock. His language is undiplomatic, offensive and personal at best when he replies to critics of President Jonathan. He must remember that no position is permanent. He will one day return to Ago Iwoye where I learnt that he hails from.
The way he replied Chief Akande was very abusive, undiplomatic and very unprofessional. People abuse Obama on Fox News all the time. You don’t see press secretaries in the White House writing or responding like Abati as if he had his journalism training at the University of Ajegunle.
