Lekan Olofinji enlisted as MTV Shuga Series finalist
Following his success at the audition for MTV’s Shuga TV Series, upcoming actor, Lekan Olofinji, has been selected as one of the six Nigerian hopefuls to feature on the programme.
According to his publicist and head of Krimmy Management, Wale Odunsi, the finalist is blessed with immense talent which makes him a good choice for the cast.
“There’s no doubt about Lekan’s acting skills. I have known him for years and trust me he’s very versatile. Be it on stage or camera, he delivers his line perfectly. He’s a charismatic actor who’s always on point, he said.
“However, for this project, we need votes, massive votes, because that’s what will lift him. So on behalf of Lekan, I appeal to everyone, both young and old, to please vote for him on shuga.tvwebsite. Voting ends on Thursday.”
Described as the next big thing by Bunmi Davies, the Manager of ace comedian, ALI BABA, Lekan, a Geology graduate of University of Benin, has appeared in popular M-Net-produced series – Tinsel; Man in the Mirror (a short film) which he played the lead role; Her Proposal (Nollywood movie), among others.
Currently, he is on set for the shooting of Kunle Afolayan’s latest film, October 1, a movie that chronicles Nigeria’s pre-colonial era.
Shuga was first aired in November 2009 on MTV Base as part of an initiative dubbed MTV Staying Alive Ignite. It was commissioned by MTV Networks Africa in association with The MTV Staying Alive Foundation, PEPFAR (The US President’s Emergency Fund for Aids Relief), the Partnership for an HIV-Free Generation (HFG) and the Government of Kenya.
It later became a hit and was aired in 40 different African countries before it was aired internationally in over 70 television stations. The programmed bagged a Gold award in May 2010 at the World Media Festival in Hamburg, Germany in the Public Relations Health category.
